Fertility Nutrition That Sees the Whole You
Answers to your most common questions. Let’s start by saying that fertility nutrition isn’t about meal plans. It’s about remembering what your body truly needs.
What is functional nutrition and how does it support fertility?
Functional nutrition doesn’t begin with food. It begins with more meaningful questions.
Not just “what do I eat” but “how can I help my body thrive right now”
Not “what’s the standard protocol” but “what does my history tell us about what I actually need”
This is a root-cause, whole-body approach. We look at what’s often missed, like nutrient depletion, gut imbalances, inflammation, hormonal patterns, blood sugar, and how stress may be playing out in your tissues
Whether you're preparing for IVF, trying naturally, or still searching for a diagnosis that makes sense, the goal is to create clarity, not more confusion.
There are no one-size-fits-all recommendations here. Just a careful, supportive process that helps restore the conditions for your body to start feel safe again to conceive and carry a pregnancy to term.
When is the best time to work with a fertility nutritionist?
The ideal time is three to six months before trying to conceive. But the honest answer is whenever your body starts asking for more care.
You don’t need to wait for a referral to a clinic or a final decision. If your cycles feel irregular, your energy is dropping, or your digestion feels off, that’s enough reason to begin.
Starting early helps us support egg and sperm quality, replenish nutrients, regulate hormones, and reduce inflammation. If you're already mid-treatment or actively trying, we focus on how to help your body respond with more ease and resilience.
How is fertility nutrition different from fertility clinic care?
Fertility clinics are designed for intervention. Functional nutrition is designed for preparation and goes beyond the egg-meet-sperm scenario.
While your clinic focuses on outcomes, we focus on the internal systems that influence those outcomes. That includes your hormone health, your gut function, your metabolism, your blood sugar, your reproductive microbiome and its influence on implantation and your capacity to rest and replenish in between or before a new cycle.
If you’re already on a fertility treatment pathway, one does not replace the other. They work best in partnership. Fertility nutrition is not an alternative; it’s the best way to support your whole body when you’re in the middle of an intensive process like that of IVF.
Can I work with you while seeing a consultant or undergoing treatment?
Yes. Many clients do.
With your permission, I can collaborate with your GP or clinic team to make sure that everything we’re doing nutritionally supports the care you’re already receiving.
This isn’t about going in a different direction. It’s about making sure your body has what it needs to feel stronger and more supported, both physically and emotionally.
What does working together look like?
Every plan is different, but the process is always grounded in science and collaborative
We start with a full intake. I take time to understand your history, your story, your symptoms, your cycles, and your environment. And I highly recommend working with both partners whenever possible, not just with the woman.
If needed, we explore functional testing. That might include hormone panels, thyroid labs, nutrient markers, stool testing, or vaginal microbiome testing on the female side. On the male side, that may include blood testing, seminal microbiome testing, referral to ultrasound or urologists if needed. Testing can help us make clearer decisions.
I’ll then create a personalized plan. This includes food, supplements, and lifestyle recommendations that reflect your body’s real needs and your life as it actually is.
We stay in regular contact. We check in, adjust, and respond to what your body is telling us as you go. You are never expected to follow a rigid protocol. This is always a conversation.
How long should I expect to work together?
Most people work with me for three to six months. This allows time to support egg and sperm health, regulate hormones, shift inflammation, and rebuild nutrient stores
If you are navigating more complex challenges like PCOS, endometriosis, or repeated loss, we may take more time together. This is not because it is harder or slower. It is because your body deserves time to repair and replenish with care.
The goal is never to rush. It is to build a foundation that lasts beyond your next appointment or cycle, and most certainly will stay with you much longer and beyond the preconception phase.
What makes this model different?
Functional nutrition is guided by the principles of functional medicine. That means we don’t isolate symptoms or chase temporary fixes. We ask what is happening beneath the surface, and how to support healing from the inside out
For fertility, that means we explore things like:
Micronutrient gaps that affect egg and sperm quality
Thyroid and hormone patterns that are often overlooked
Blood sugar and metabolic regulation
Gut microbiome balance
Vaginal or seminal microbiome optimization
Immune system support and regulation
Inflammatory triggers and how stress may be showing up in your body
The result is a plan that helps you feel more stable, nourished, and connected to your body again
This is not about being perfect with food. It is about learning to listen more closely and respond accordingly.
You are allowed to support your fertility without self-blame.
You are allowed to slow down and still be making progress.
You are allowed to ask for support that sees the whole you.
And if that is what you’re ready for, you’re in the right place.
What working together can look like
There’s no one right way to do this. Which is why there are a few ways you can work with me.
Some clients come in for short-term support, to explore one or two key pieces. Others stay longer, through preconception, pregnancy, or postpartum so that we can move through the whole arc together.
Some prefer structured 1:1 care. Others start with self-paced options, in their own time, in their own rhythm.
Wherever you are in your journey, we can start from there. Beyond conception, I also support women in their peri and menopausal years and with gut health optimization.
The best way to find out what’s right for you is to book a free call. No prep needed. Just a conversation to explore what your body’s asking for, and whether this is the right kind of support for it.
